Jessica Buckley
Mrs. Buckley, Art & Design teacher, began as a watercolor painter at the age of ten, later expanding her skills to acrylics and oils throughout her childhood and teenage years. In college, she further explored drawing, ceramics, stained glass, mixed media, printmaking, and 3D art, always fueling her passion for creativity. She is an artist and art teacher at heart, dedicated to inspiring people of all ages. With 16 years of teaching experience across elementary and high school levels, she is now in her seventh year teaching middle school.
As a dedicated educator, Mrs. Buckley is passionate about project-based learning. She is an IB Design Certified Instructor, Apple Teacher, Google Certified Educator, and Project Lead the Way Certified Instructor, with expertise in art & design. In addition to teaching art, she is the debate coach for the middle school, where she has led the team to three consecutive Alabama state championships. Outside of the art room, Mrs. Buckley enjoys spending time with her husband and two daughters, being creative, cooking, painting, cleaning, and exercising.
Finally, Mrs. Buckley LOVES Artsonia! She especially appreciates the ease of uploading artwork directly from the app, making the process quick and convenient. The platform's artist statement and title feature allows her to seamlessly integrate literacy into the arts, ensuring that each student reflects on and responds to their artwork, which aligns with the IB criteria for both art and design. She also values how Artsonia keeps parents involved by sending them an email every time their child’s artwork is uploaded. Mrs. Buckley’s favorite part of Artsonia is the online gallery, with a QR code posted outside her classroom and around the school for easy access to the amazing art being created in the TMSM Art Studio!
