Fran Alley
Fran Alley has been an Art Educator for both adults and children for the past 20 years. Fran has taught painting in Europe and Mexico. She has taught and designed curriculum at Langara College and worked for the Canada Council Art Bank as their Western representative.
Fran is the Founder of the Vancouver Art Guild. A collection of 30 artists who display and sell their art in Vancouver. This non profit organization has been fostering artists and giving back to the community for the past 14 years. The Gui ... read moreld offers scholarships to new students attending Emily Carr University and donates to The Gathering Place, Community Centre in downtown Vancouver. The Gathering Place supports those who find themselves at a vunerable points in their lives. The Guild donates much needed art supplies to their art program. The guild also offers Opus Framing and Art Supplies gift certificates to elementary and secondary schools in Vancouver. Each November the guild artists show at their Annual Winter Salon with brings in over 900 people in attendance.
For the past 8 years Fran has been Department Head of Spectrum Learning Centre, a Vancouver School Board District program for at risk youth ages 15-18, grades 10-12. Fran encourages her students to give "voice" to their talents and express themselves with a wide variety of mediums.
Fran enjoys working in acrylic, watercolour and mixed media. Still Life and the figure are her ideal subjects.
