Allison Richo
I grew up in Chicago Illinois where my love and passion for the Arts began through frequent visits to museums and displaying my artwork in various city competitions since the age of 13. I earned my BFA in Fine Arts from Spelman College and had the opportunity to study under the touledge of world reknown African American Artist and Instructors. I went on to study at Howard University School of Architecture and worked in the field of Architecture and Engineering for ten years prior to beginning my career in ... read more education. As an Art Educator in Prince George's County Maryland for the past 18 years, I have worked very hard to expose my students to varying tools & techniques, the college level art studio experience ,collaborations and pubic art. I am a strong advocate for the Arts, I have served as an Exhibition Committee Member for Youth Art Month since 2006, worked on the summer curriculum writing team to revise the Basic Design Curriculum 2007, held workshops for interdisciplinary projects in core subjects, presenter for new teachers and served as an assessor for the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards for 5 years. I have been the Visual Arts Chairperson for Oxon Hill High School since 2004, earning many awards and recognition for my work as an art educator, my students have been recognized for their outstanding artwork , achievements and community mural project and Art shows.
