Becki Pollan
Becki Pollan graduated from Michigan State University in 1986 with a degree in Child Development and Elementary Education. While she has always had an interest in art, her desire to teach art came from having to teach art. Like many other teachers, Becki found herself in the position of teaching 2nd and 3rd grade art without a degree in the field. Wanting to teach the subject well, she began learning more about the subject, developing her own art skills, and got a lot of advice from colleagues. She has ... read moreattended many workshops and a couple of courses on the subject, but considers herself to be a self/colleague-taught artist/art teacher. As her ability grew, so did her interest in teaching art. After teaching 2nd and 3rd grade art for 6 years, she "graduated" to 4th-8th grade art teacher. She spent 6 years in that position and currently serves as the kindergarten through 8th grade art teacher at Immanuel Lutheran School. She continues to "practice" her own art skills, is a member of the Deep Space Sparkle "Sparklers" club, and considers pinterest, Artsonia, and other quality websites to be her inspiration.
