After receiving my Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts from Montserrat College of Art located in Beverly, MA in 2002. I began my adventure in the educational field in Early Childhood education. I have been teaching since 2003 in both early childhood education, art youth programs, and in private school settings. I have taught at The YMCA, Kentlands Children’s Center, Chesterbrook Academy, Maryland College of Art & Design, The Metropolitan Center for the Visual Art, Renaissance Art Center, Thomas Jefferson Pr ... read moreeparatory School, Feynman School, and Riverworks Art Center. As a teacher and artist I enjoy creating art in many mediums from drawing, painting, sculpture, collage, and jewelry design. Also I have a love for music and dance from all genres. My relish for teaching youth is kindled by their unvarnished views of the world, love for life, their honesty, and their excitement for creative problem solving. Being an educator I thrive to provide a creative, hands-on learning environment and experiences for all my students to blossom through creative learning. My goals as your student’s art teacher is to bring to life the love for the arts in all students as I guide them to build their self esteem, express their thoughts, ideas, as well as their emotions. When teaching in the Studio I strive to encourage all students to express their personal artistic statements of their world around them using unique artistic challenges to prompt their explorations. My motto in the studio is “We create art from our hearts” and of course “There are no mistakes, only happy accidents”- Bob Ross. With each class I promote the discovery of creative problem solving skills, pre-planning skills, positive development for taking on artistic risks, exploring a variety of artistic mediums, mindfulness, and compositional reflections in group critiques. As your student's Art Teacher I hope to nurture your student’s creativity so that they may unleash their artistic thoughts and ideas in a positive healthy manner. In the studio I provide an open and safe creative space for all to be comfortable; where students can feel at ease to express themselves as well as learn about the world around them, the fine arts, and themselves.
