Biography

Hello!
My name is Elizabeth Allums, and I am so excited to be your art teacher at Pinchbeck Elementary School! This is my 14th year of teaching in HCPS. In 2012 I was honored to be voted by my peers the Henrico County Elementary Art Teacher of the Year. It is such a joy to help my students explore, discover, and create. I have the best job in the world teaching and inspiring my students to help them to learn about their world through the lens of art.
My art room is a colorful, fun and engaging place where everyone is given the opportunity to stretch their imagination, work as a community and form a lasting appreciation of art. We experience a wide variety of media so that everyone builds their art knowledge and discovers a favorite medium. I personally love drawing, painting and mixed media arts. I knit, sew, crochet and do many types of crafts.
I grew up in Williamsburg, Virgina. My high school art teacher Mrs Joyce was my most inspiring teacher. Art has always been my favorite subject. I moved to Richmond to attend school at Virginia Commonwealth University, where I earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting and Printmaking. I have always loved learning so it seemed natural for me to share my passion for art with young people and inspire children the way Mrs Joyce inspired me. I returned to VCU in 2001 to continue my schooling in Art Education.
I have a son who is in the 8th grade, and we live in Richmond with our dog Arthur.
