Meet Susan Catrone

Biography
Susan Catrone has been teaching art at the high school level for over 20 years. Ms Catrone is a member of NAEA, and AENJ where she served as advocacy chair for 8 years. She also served as co-chair of the Middlesex County YAM exhibit, which is a nationally recognized celebration of Visual Art held in March for 15 years. Susan has served as the liason for Middlesex County Arts High and was a member on the Middlesex County Arts Advisory Committee. Currently Mrs Catrone is the liason for The HS Portfolio development program at Rutger's University Mason Gross School of the Arts where students are hand picked for participation in the program. She also serves as liaison for Middlesex County Arts High.

Susan has served as co advisor for Carteret High School's chapter of the National Art Honor Society. In 2022, Susan started working with students on a world wide competition known as Junk Kouture, where Carteret has placed in both the NYC finals and the World's Finals consecutively in 2023 and 2024. This year Mrs Catrone has taken the position of Yearbook co-advisor and has been working hard to make this the best yearbook ever!

Honors include the 2011 and 2018 Puglisi Youth Art Month Award, the 2012 National Art Honor Society Award, the 2020 Anthony A Guadadiello Service Award, and the 2021 Governor's Award in Art Education.

Susan is a working artist and has showed throughout New Jersey and New York in a number of group shows. She is a member of the Woodbridge Artisans Guild in Woodbridge, New Jersey.

Susan believes staying active in art making makes her a better teacher and a happy person!
