Biography

After graduation from the University of Maryland in Studio Art (printmaking and ceramics) and marrying Michael Holly, architect, my ?career? moved to Louisiana! Being a native of New Orleans, I was pleased to return. In Hammond, my volunteer work as art camp director, friends of the library and other civic opportunities helped me know my new community. Through it all I was making my own art work. In August 1994, my friend asked me if I would be willing to be the art teacher at the SLU Lab School. I jumped into a career of art education and have never looked back! Now in my 17th year, with my certification and Masters in Education, I?m still learning and growing, always investigating new ways to assist my students in their creative endeavors in order to express themselves. I believe that communicating with others is extremely important to life and art communicates. I want to acknowledge my colleagues in the Louisiana Art Education Association, our professional organization. From our collaborations, I have learned a great deal, and working together, we all benefit, art teachers and our students.

Everyone has a story; it is the fabric of life.
I want to instill curiosity and enthusiasm for learning into my students, creating life-long learners. The world is changing and we have to give our students the skills to become creative problem-solvers using divergent thinking for multiple solutions.
