Biography
Debra Goley cannot remember when art was not a major part of her life. She began to sketch in elementary school for sixth grade play programs and found herself eventually sketching at the base of the Acropolis in Greece by age 14.This lead to her love of Architecture whereby she received a Bachelor of Architecture at The University of Texas, Austin, TX. in 1988.

Her career began in Architecture in design and project management for 17 years in Washington DC and Texas, having moved to Arizona in 2003. Debra has found getting messy outside the office a better fit (the AZ. weather helps!) using a paint brush on outdoor murals and indoor wall art as her passion.

Her accomplishments include a Best of Show Award, "Horizon Competition," community development on Lake Travis, Austin TX, The Doyle Wilson Co. and the University of Texas at Austin (sponsors),1988. Subsequently she has been chosen to serve on numerous boards that give back to the community. Her efforts with the Bay City Texas Landmark Commission as past Chairman and the Bay City Main Street /Streetscape Committee as past member transformed a downtown district to be one of restoration, beautification and vitalization. Her love of child development and working with children allowed her to be one of five artists selected to help with the Rancho Santa Fe Elementary school PTO in Avondale, AZ in 2005. This month long project helped K through 6th graders develop techniques for shade/shadow/ perspective and color contrast as they painted their favorite storybook pictorials along the gymnasium walls. For the City of Goodyear, Debra helped create Western themed mural sets for the 2008 G.A.I.N organization to promote safety and prevent crime.

Moreover, her volunteer work includes hand painted murals for the Burn Unit at Maricopa County Hospital in the waiting rooms and pediatric room. Estrella Youth Sports, a non-profit organization requested Debra to help with planning and visuals of ball field perspectives for grant initiatives. Debra is a member of Estrella Mountain Church. University of Texas Alumni, (Associate member), IDAL, International Decorative Artisans League, Phoenix Art Museum, Visions Gallery, San Diego CA, and former member of the National Trust for Historic Preservation.

She currently owns Bella Villa Designs, a mural business. She also owns and operates Debra Goley Art, a studio and teaching environment for children of all ages. Kids gather around for class time as they fall in love with art masters and try their hands at new skills. She founded a Debra Goley ART CAMP since 2005 and truly the children never cease to amaze all with their love of learning and creativity as they explore their world. Furthermore, Debra formerly served as Director of Arts for the magazine, ArtSeen, and is on the Board of Directors for The Creative Arts Academy as well as serving as Director of Visual Arts and instructing several classes over the coming months. The Creative Arts Academy is a perfect fit for Debra to share her gifts as an artist and help others to discover their inner gifts, explore new areas and create works of art that inspire and encourage character growth.

Her personal artwork has been showcased at area restaurants and medical facilities as she continues to practice her trade. See website http://www.debragoleyart.com to see where her latest work is showcasing.

Her lifetime of travel and living in Aruba, Libya, U.A.E and Qatar and her interest in exploring different mediums have lead to an array of styles as seen in her work. Mediums include water colors, pastel, calligraphy, pencil, charcoal, graphite, pen and ink, fiber, pottery, mixed media, acrylics and oils. Being exposed to some of the finest artwork of our generation has stirred the painter within.
Debra currently resides in Goodyear, AZ with her amazing husband, duVal Sr., and their two children and dog, Astro.
