Biography

I recently retired from teaching art to over 1000 children each year in a fabulous elementary school in SW Florida. I absolutely LOVED my job, but moved to the country where my retirement dream was to travel in a tie dye wrapped VW bus teaching art to children who were homeschooled! Like most children, I told everybody what I wanted to be when I grew up - in the second grade, I was telling everyone that I was going to be an art teacher... I began my teaching career in 1978 in Pinellas County Florida, in a school with no art room and no air-conditioning! I would load up my little wooden shopping cart with paints and Papier mache, and head to meet my students in their classrooms. Sometimes I would have to cart everything upstairs to the rooms on the second floor. What fun we had!
I’ve found that my retirement dream has come true, but I haven’t found that old VW bus yet… instead, I was blessed with the opportunity to teach Art to some of God’s children at The Sowers Academy, where I look forward to many, many more years in the classroom with my budding artists.
