Biography

Welcome to ART with Mrs. Bruns!
As the part-time art teacher in Union Beach, I am excited to welcome our amazing young artists into my classroom everyday.
In order to bring out your "inner artist," and be successful in class, students should be ready to use their imagination, be willing to learn something new and always put forth their best effort regardless of skill or confidence level. Of course, treating classmates, teachers and supplies with respect is extremely important too!
Throughout the year, we draw, paint, print and sculpt while exploring the elements of art and principles of design.  We will learn about all kinds of artists and art movements throughout history and explore different cultures around the world along with different ways people incorporate art into their career choices!
A little bit about me... I have my BA in Fine Arts from Kean University, with a minor in Teaching from Geogian Court University. I also have my MA in Special Education from NJCU. My NJ teaching certifications allow me to teach many different subjects in grades K-8 including ART (which is my favorite). Before becoming a teacher, I worked in the business sector as a graphic designer and art director.
On a personal note... I am mom to Alyssa and Matt, have been married for over 30 years and am obsessed with my two bernedoodle dogs! Many students know Maeby from our Read to Dogs program from the MCSPCA, where we volunteer and come to the school library with my therapy dog on my days off.
