Biography

Kellye Slate has been an educator for almost 20 years. She has been a certified K-12 art teacher for the last 5 years. Kellye received her Bachelors of Science degree from VA Tech, her Masters of Art degree from Western Carolina University, and her K-12 certification from East Carolina University.

She transitioned from professional artist to teach about five years ago when she finally realized her passion was sharing art with young people and advocating for art opportunities in her local schools. She strives to teach her students the importance of thinking like artists.

Personally, Kellye has been married for almost 20 years to another artist/instructor and has two fantastic children. They love spending time with each other at the beach and playing with their young Airedale, Ferrin.
