Biography
This is my eighth year teaching at Northwest Early Elementary and I love teaching art here! Before I taught at Northwest, I taught art at East Jackson for 21 years. My husband and I own a food truck business called Tiki Sam's Pizza. I am often out making pizza on the weekend during food truck season. We have four kids: Jasmin is a freshman at Kendall College of Art & Design in Grand Rapids where she is studying art history and studio art, Karson is 23 works as an IT guy for FMFinancial. Max is 24 and works for TEC electric company and is working toward his journeyman's license. Our oldest, Savannah is 26 and is married to her highschool sweetheart, Raygan Bruton and lives in Jackson. They have a little dog named Mia. Savannah is a licensed massage therapist and works at Reach in Ann Arbor, she also works at Jackson Coffee Company and Ogma Brewing and is involved in community theater. Her and her husband are also expecting twins in March! I am super excited to be a grandma! I love to journal, paint and draw when I have spare time and I run a mail club called the Nostalgia Archive, that is based on artwork I have done. I also love my art journaling group at Essa Arts and am a member of our local Jackson Art Association as well as co-lead the JXN Art Teachers group. You can find out more about my artwork and follow me on Facebook or Instagram: @juliedurocherart.
