Biography
Mrs. MacGregor is the volunteer Artistic Director of Art For Kids, Inc. She has been an early childhoold and elementary educator for over 20 years. Her former specialty was performing arts combined with lessons in the Hawaiian culture and language. She has performed hundreds of dance shows with her dance and ukulele singing troupes. For the past 12 years Mrs. MacGregor has been focused on bringing quality visual fine art lessons to students of all ages both in school and during summer breaks, regardless of family's ability to pay. She loves teaching art for many reasons including the way she notices how children's eyes light up when they see her in the hallways and as they enter her classroom.
She believes that teaching art with heart and using professional quality and recycled (upcycled) art materials helps to guide children into creating amazing art that develops and expands young imaginations. In addition, Mrs. MacGregor weaves her love of anthropology and ethnospheric diversity into culturally sensitive and beautiful art project to help children travel around the world through art.
She considers teaching art to children an honor and a privilege and has a true dedication to making a difference in the lives of her students and community. She and her students volunteer their time outside the classroom creating community murals at places like animal shelters and school campuses. In 2009, Arizona was the featured state for the Capitol Christmas tree and she and her 3rd grade students created large state-themed ornaments for the tree in Washington DC and then following the earthquake in Haiti, she led students through the process of creating 30 painted umbrellas as part of "The Umbrella Project" which raised thousands of dollars for the Albert Schweitzer hospital in Haiti. Besides being an art teacher, she is a life-long learner and an artist in her own right. Below you will find just a sampling of the kinds of art she creates and sells at galleries.
