Biography

Hello, my name is Ms. Fries and I'm the Art Teacher at Portage West Middle School!

I attended Southwestern Michigan College, Western Michigan University, and Michigan State University where I studied many different art forms including Painting, Jewelry and Graphic Design. In my studies, I've also had a fair bit of experience with philosophy and believe that's heavily influenced my artmaking and teaching styles. I also paint, draw, and make jewelry outside of teaching and love to share my passion for the arts with my students.

I've been teaching at West since February of 2016 and love it -- I'm so grateful to work with such amazing students, who are creative, fun, and not afraid to take risks and try new things! I hope you enjoy looking at their Art!
