Biography

Welcome to Mrs. Oldham's World of Art! (It truly is my world!) I currently teach grades 5-8 and the Adapted Art class at Logan-Hocking Middle School. I believe every child has a special gift - and that gift may not be art. However, I believe they can explore all of the different materials and learn to use their imaginations to create their own individual artworks and find an interest in artistic expression.

In my classroom we learn a little bit of everything. My lessons change to meet the needs of the students. I offer everything from drawing (crayons, colored pencils, markers, pastels, etc.) to collage, printmaking, painting, and 3-D explorations (especially ceramics). I offer a blend of Choice-based learning, teacher directed projects and Teaching for Artistic Behavior (T.A.B.) lessons.

I enjoy working with my fellow Ohio art teachers in the Ohio Art Education Association. As the Public Relations/Advocacy Chair I have been able to promote the arts in our district for the last 4 years. I have been honored to be a member of the local Alpha Xi chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma Ohio State Organization of Leading Women Educators and have served as the Educational Chairperson since 2021. I have represented the Fine Art Department on the Building Leadership Team at LHMS as the Fine Art Department Teacher Leader for the past seven years.

I hold a Bachelors of Fine Arts degree with a dual specialization in Metalworking/Jewelry and Sculpture from Bowling Green State University. I have worked as a community muralist, a business manager and gallery coordinator for a local non-profit arts organization, managed local art displays, exhibited in art shows, organized and led community workshops, and taught metalworking at the college level. This is my 10th year teaching middle school artists. I am currently pursuing my Master of Art Education at BGSU.
