Meet Arlen Ruiz

Biography
Arlen Ruiz is proud to be the Upper School Visual Arts and Photography teacher! She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) and Master of Arts in Teaching: Art Education (M.A.T.) from Florida International University. Ms. Ruiz has experience teaching gifted international students and children with developmental disabilities at The University of Miami and Florida International University. She has over 8 years of experience teaching visual arts in grades K-12 and over 4 years at The Village School. Her curriculum experiences include International Baccalaureate, Differentiated Instruction in a college preparatory setting and STEAM. In addition to obtaining a professional educator’s certification in Art grades k-12, Arlen is also a STEAM certified educator. Furthermore, her students at The Village School have won Scholastics Art & Writing Awards in photography and painting. Ms. Ruiz enjoys photography, drawing, portrait painting, and plein air landscape painting. You can find more of her work at http://arlenfineart.com.
