Biography

Hi! My name is Kris Gideon and I am the K-8 art teacher at Colorado Springs Christian Schools. I'm so glad to be a part of the CSCS community, working with the staff, students and parents to create an exciting learning experience for each student.

I'm originally from the east. I've lived in Florida, Ohio and Virginia. In 2003, my husband and I moved to Colorado Springs where we lived for a year and then we relocated to Littleton, where we lived for 12 years. While in Littleton, our 2 children were born and I completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Painting and Drawing at Metropolitan State University of Denver. I also ran art programs and art camps in Littleton and Highlands Ranch. In 2015, we were in deep prayer about our next step in life and God clearly brought us to CSCS.

Because of my fine art background, I strive to develop in the students an artistic mindset- an ability to to really look at an artwork and visually break it down-through understanding the elements and principles of art; an ability to slow down and concentrate; an ability to understand how to use artist materials and an ability to put these skills together in order to create. We create with Colossians 3:23 in mind: "Whatever you might do, work from the soul, as to the Lord and not to men."
