Biography

This is my 10th year teaching Art and Pottery at Cascade. I'm thrilled that I get to teach 15 Pottery classes again this year! I love sharing the joy of the ceramic process with my students, empowering them to transform the humblest of materials (a lump of mud) into unique artistic creations reflecting each young artist's individual voice and vision. My mother is a potter; I grew up watching her work in the studio and demonstrate the pottery wheel to students of all ages. I'm honored to continue her legacy of sharing this ancient artform with new generations of students.

They say that art teachers never have time to make their own art-- not true! I have been creating more work than ever, as my students continually challenge me to try new ideas and materials and keep exploring. In addition to pottery I create work in all media, including book arts, drawing, digital, fibers, glass, installation, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture, and video.

When I'm not teaching or creating art, you might find me hiking, paddleboarding, reading, practicing Yoga, playing guitar/piano, or visiting museums. I also love to travel during school breaks.
