Biography
Hello! Welcome to my Bio page! Growing up, I was a Westfield student. I attended Tamaques, then Edison, and graduated from Westfield High with honors. I started my college career at University of Michigan-Ann Arbor (GO BLUE!), where I loved science and studied to become a physical therapist. Unfortunately, during my hospital internship, I found the career to be frought with sadness and pain. I took a year off, traveling and working my way through Australia for 6 months, while I figured out my next move. I eventually graduated with two degrees, one in communications and one in art. I moved to Seattle and worked for Amazon.com at their headquarters when they were mostly just a bookseller (yes, I am really, really old). I realized that "Corporate America" was not my dream in life. I decided that enjoying your work is more important than getting rich. I came back to NJ, earned my Masters of Art Education, and now I have my dream job, being a goofball, teaching elementary art. I have been teaching art since 2004, one year in Red Bank Regional High School, and the rest of my career, back home, in Westfield elementary schools. I have a wonderful husband, two gorgeous children and a rescue dog named Pixie. In my free time, I love to travel and volunteer my time with animals, whether that is washing out litter pans at a local shelter, or bottle feeding a 4-week-old banded mongoose in South Africa. I also create my own art which has included: painting, felting, sculpting, toy making, metal-working, journaling, woodworking, costume-making, halloween installations, quilting, drawing.... the list goes on. I love art. But, not as much as I love unicorns. Unicorns are the best!
