Biography

This is my 22nd year working in Rochester Community Schools and my 11th year at Brooklands Elementary. I've taught all grades TK-12 and enjoy them all. Watching our Brooklands artist explore and create brings me joy. Allowing choice in the art-room allows students to express themselves, problem solve and have fun.

I am active in the MEA Union and Michigan Art Education Association and currently hold the titles of National Delegate, Co-Chair for Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Co-Chair and 2020 Michigan Art teacher of the Year. In my "spare time" I like watercolor, playing with clay and photography along with history, architecture, gardening and drinking my herbal teas. Recently joined South Oakland Artist Association and volunteering at a Detroit gallery. Otherwise I am busy with my 3 kids who are all college age.
