Biography
I am a second year teacher, and first year art teacher. I started off as an Art Major in college, then in my 2nd year of college, took a different direction after taking an advertising 101 class. I ended up with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing...with a lot of studio arts credits! After working in the Advertising industry for 18 years, I went back to school and got my MA in Elementary Education at Rockhurst University. I continued to stay involved by volunteering as a Museum Guide at the Nelson Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City. I also when I can find the time (usually summers!) take Watercolor classes.

I believe in staying innovative, studying best practices, creating professional goals, and engaging in the reflective process helps me continually improve to share and teach. I want to empower students to try their best - art does not have to be perfect! It is okay to make a mistake here -- in my classes we call them "happy accidents!"

The art studio is a great way for students to share feelings and emotions in their work in a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment. It also helps them with self-esteem and believing in their abilities!

In Miss Terwelp's Art Studio --we make memories, tell stories, read books, laugh, and celebrate! I have fun making art, exploring new ideas, and being creative -- being myself!

I hope you enjoy viewing our fabulous artwork and that parents, grandparents, family, and friends can enjoy for years to come!
