Meet Kathryn Johnson
from Annapolis Christian Academy
Corpus Christi, Texas
Biography
Kathryn Johnson began painting at the age of 14, apprenticing under the oil painter, Annise Lindeburg (student of Windburg) and watercolorist, Ann West both of Corpus Christi. She later studied studio art and art history at Del Mar College, Corpus Christi, Texas and Laguna Gloria School of Art in Austin, Texas. Kathryn is personally inspired by one of her favorite master painters, Rembrandt as well as the naturalist and painter, Marie Sybill Merian. She enjoys creating snapshots of Biblical history in her paintings as well as realistic images of nature. Her work is multi-layered with a generous use of symbolism, a tool she wields to reveal Christian theology, primarily the character and nature of God and His plan of salvation. She has displayed her work in various art shows and exhibits in the state of Texas. She has taught art classes to grade school children in Christian schools, Homeschool Co-ops and private students for the last 25 years. Kathryn has taught Kindergarten through 12th grade art and ceramics at Annapolis Christian Academy for 10 years.
