End of Year Art Newsletter
from Mrs. Girbino, Leighton Art

Creativity is "intelligence having fun." (Albert Einstein). Well, we had a very fun and extremely busy year in LES Art. #1198 artworks have been photographed and published just this year (you only can see the art of students that have permission granted), and I am so proud of all the creative thinking and effort of my students!

In the fourth quarter the projects we completed were:

3rd Grade- Forest Pop-Up (tagboard and markers) and Mise-En-Scene (three sections which illustrated the beginning/middle/end of a story or movie). Some classes were able to explore Google Drawings, also.

4th Grade- Glimpsing Galaxies (drew/shaded brick wall, placed a watercolor of a galaxy in the middle), Choice Board (mix of drawing and digital art), Digital Mosaics, and One-Point Perspective Name.

5th Grade- Finished Glazing Clay, Graffiti Name (Pop-Up), Yarn Art (choice of yarn picture, yarn with drawing, weaving, or layering with paper)

With nearly 700 students and usually three projects a quarter, a lot of beautiful art was ideated, revised, and completed in all art media (watercolor, acrylic paint, tempera paint, pencil, colored pencil, marker, paper engineering, construction paper, and fourth/fifth did clay).

--> Summer drawing ideas can be found on my webpage (link), under “Projects”. I encourage everyone to just have fun-- doodling & drawing, on paper, in the sand, wherever! Just like any motor skill, practice is essential.

Artsonia is the largest student art museum in the world! Our dream is that every young artist will have an online art gallery, preserving their masterpieces in a digital portfolio!
