from Mrs. Patchell
Welcome to a brand new school year at Cedar Mountain! My name is Mrs. Patchell and I am your child's art teacher. We are already off to an exciting start to the year in our art room. We have experimented with markers, crayons, construction paper, and even some of us used watercolor paint! I see each class once a week for 45 minutes and depending on the marking period they will have art one extra class period.

Students came up with art goals they wanted to accomplish and we will be working to achieve each goal as we move through the school year. Some upcoming goals your children created and will be working on include, learning about line through song and a scavenger hunt, creating a pumpkin using art elements, learning about Picasso and creating a collage inspired by him.

I am so excited to begin using Artsonia for our youngest artists. It is a digital portfolio of all the artworks your child is creating in art. The best part is you can now share their creative accomplishments with friends and family both near and far. Each student's artwork will be saved to their individual account which you linked to when you granted permission either through email or logging in. As your child grows, so will their art portfolio as many other art teachers in Vernon also use Artsonia and their student account transfers year to year! When students finish projects I will post a picture of them on their account that only you and whoever you wish to share it with can view. If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to me through my email, hpatchell@vtsd.com.

I am so looking forward to a great year teaching your children art at Cedar Mountain! I cannot wait to see where their creative minds take them while many of them experience art education for the first time.
Artsonia is the largest student art museum in the world! Our dream is that every young artist will have an online art gallery, preserving their masterpieces in a digital portfolio!
