In this unit we studied and learned about Pop Art. Pop Art is short for "Popular Art." One of the artists we learned about was Andy Warhol.

st Grade created pop art using the elements of art: line and color. We then used a print making technique or coloring on a piece of foil, spraying it with water and transferring that for the background of their project. It resulted in an awesome tie-dye effect.

nd Grade put themselves into their art work. We printed out a picture of each student, then they were able to decide if they wanted their picture to be whole or cut in half. Next, they used the elements of art, line and color, to create their background. I think they enjoyed the last step the most. They colored on foil with water based markers, sprayed water on the foil and then transferred those colors onto their picture. It resulted in an awesome tie-dye effect.

rd Grade had the option to make a pop art project using candy wrappers as inspiration or they were able to choose an animal and turn it into their vision of pop art.

th & 5th Grade created pop art using candy wrappers as inspiration. They used Pasca paint pens to bring their artwork to life!

th Grade created plaster relief sculptures of their chosen candy. A relief sculpture is a project that displays variety of heights from a flat/ 2D background.

th Grade created enlarged plaster replicas of their candy wrappers.

th grade created 3d plaster replicas of their chosen food. Some students worked in groups to create a sculpture that had more than one piece to it, other students chose to create their projects individually.
