3rd Grade--Dinosaurs (If the Dinosaurs Came Back)

If The Dinosaurs Came Back is a book written and illustrated by Bernard Most. 3rd Graders watched the video of the story first. Then we talked about the elements of art and how the principle of art, Emphasis, is prevalent through the use of color on the dinosaurs. Students took the idea of "If the dinosaurs came back, what would they BE". They created a character dinosaur with emphasis on color and character of the dinosaur and gave him a background place which is drawn in black and white, like the story is. After they were drawn, students from Memorial Middle School were able to pick their favorites to turn in to sculpture. If time, students from Stratford High School will take their designs and turn them into a digital piece of artwork as well. Collaboration at it's finest!
