2023-2024 Beginning of the Year Baseline

Students are asked to sketch 4 items to demonstrate their current understanding and abilities of the art elements and principles. Coloring was optional as the focus was on the drawing abilities. Grades K-5- had to create a landscape or scene that showed the 4 parts (a building, an animal, a plant, and a person) and how they would incorporate them together. Focus for art included usage of lines, shapes, space, unity, and variety. Students could add color, movement, value, texture, etc. to show their current understanding.
