Students used air dry clay to create mini versions of "fake food." We studied the Japanese art of "sampura", or fake food used to advertise food in Japanese restaurants and stores. Students watched a video about sampura and how it's grown to be a 90 million dollar industry. Sampura was invented in the 1940's to show soldiers the variety of food available without needing to read the menus.
