Elizabeth, this is an interesting piece of pottery. Does it represent what could have been found in the Effigy Mounds of northern Iowa?? Or perhaps any Native American mound in the US? Would like to know why you chose the colors you used and does it represent an animal or person from hundreds of years ago?

Ellie I love, love, love this piece of your artwork! The twists and turns of the circular and not circular objects is fascinating. One would think it is a piece of expensive jewelry! This is another of your works I hope we can discuss some day. Love Grandma B

That would make a neat face mask.

Ellie, you did a fine job on your structure of a figure. I like the movements of the upper body. The left arm and hand could have easily thrown an object! I don’t know if you intended for your figure to have a face but I definitely see the face of a wise man. Did you use wire for the structure and support of the body? Like always I wish I were with you to talk about your thinking as you worked on this artwork! Love GrandMoM

Elizabeth, your cardboard Grama reminds me of a period in paintings called cubism. In fact I think my mother, your great grandmother, had a painting in our home done in cubism style! I especially like the orange hair. Were you thinking grandma Bonnie and I should have our hair dyed orange? My hair was once orange for a very few minutes. Ask me how my hair became orange. Love Grama B

Hi Ellie. Received a picture of your artwork today. How appropriate that this is the week of your 9th birthday! I like your choice of rainbow colors as the world needs the happiness of rainbows right now. I know you said you wanted your family birthday party to reflect creativity and art and that is a wonderful theme for the artist in you! My wish for you is that your love of art remains throughout your years of growth. Love you sweetheart! GrandMoM B

Ellie - your planets just pop off the gray paper! They look 3 dimensional and I kept looking for a string that might be holding the planets in the air. Are people living on any of your planets? I would choose to live on the top left one. Super painting! Love, GrandMoM B

Ellie - Your pout pout fish brought a smile to my face. I know you like to work with clay and I am thinking this was kiln dried. This pout fish would stand out in a school of fishes! Love you and your pout pout, GrandmaB

Elizabeth - I LOVE this Hands artwork you did. To me it says hands up for love. I spent several minutes looking at all the different parts of your picture. I wished so much we could be sitting together talking about your thoughts as you were working on it. Love and Miss You, GrandmomB

Ellie, someone looks like they just woke up from a nightmare!

Ellie, I can see some styles of Picasso in your art work. I don’t know what StoMo means so you can explain that to me next time we see each other. My mother ( your great grandmother) loved art and Picasso was just one of her favorites! Did your teacher show you some of Picasso’s?

Ellie, this looks like me on a roller coaster ride! This reminds me of an adult artist who painted a similar picture to yours. I wonder what your thoughts were while you created this art piece?

Ellie, I really like Pete’s curly tail! I counted 12 cats in this artwork. You know cats well since your family includes 2. Love Grandma B.

Unfortunately your picture shows up barely visible on this website, so I can’t wait to see it in person!

Ellie, who knew a bat could look like a taco? Maybe his name could be Tacobatty.

Ellie, I like how you drew random shapes and then filled them in with colorful things that the shapes made you think of. I also see faces with the eyes you like to draw now. It’s neat how you can turn the picture around and see objects you didn’t see before.

Hoot Hoot What a great owl collage and so appropriate for fall. (If you have a dictionary look up the meaning of appropriate). Your choice of colors used in the tree and falling leaves are a lovely background and foreground for the owl. Hope you enjoyed making this collage and maybe you will make more with your papers at home! Love Grandma B

Ellie, your contour art picture is so cool. I like your choice of colors and how the lines create motion like small waves of ocean water flowing over your hand. I can feel the movement! I look forward to seeing all your artwork this year.

Ellie-Your weaving project is amazing! It is so colorful! Your Great Grandma Merna taught her fourth grade students how to weave many years ago.

Your Purple Urple Durple is so fun to look at and his name fits him perfectly. Wouldn’t it be great if someone could make a stuffed animal that looked just like your painting? Wish I was a tiny insect that could sneak into your art room and watch you as you create. Love GrandmaB

Ellie, I love your choice of colors and how you showed movement in the background! Also the different shades of brown in the vase make it seem so real. It is great to see your artistic talent growing. Grandma B
