Arlo, Your self-portrait is so well done. The technique you used to create the appearance of fabric on the Steph Curry jersey is very impressive. The facial image you created, and the colors used definitely emulates Bisa Butler's style. Great job! Love, Mimi

Hi Arlo, Looking at this piece it's as if you drew one and cloned the others. They all look so similar. It's like that game, "find what is different in each one". Great job! Love, Mimi

Hi Arlo, I researched Bisa Butler checking out her work, and I am so impressed how you were able to create the image of Steph Curry using the tools and techniques of this contemporary artist. It was so interesting to read your teacher's detailed description of how this type of art was done. You did an amazing job! Love, Mimi

Arlo, this piece is exquisite. What an amazing job you did with all of the steps it took from the beginning of the project to the end. I am all about symmetry! It was interesting to read cardboard tubes were used to create this piece which has such a delicate finished look.I love the colors you used and the glitter. A truly wonderful job you did! Love, Mimi

Hi Arlo. I love seeing your first piece of 5th grade art on Artsonia. Reading your teacher's narrative on how it was created was so interesting. It sounds like you have another great art teacher. The background colors you used are so vibrant and make the black-and-white pumpkin pop. You did an amazing job with the contouring and the various graphics used throughout the pumpkin. Great job! Hi Arlo. This Fiber Arts project is remarkable. The embellishments you added to the stitch work are a perfect complement. If I had been in Kohler, I would have loved to observe you learn all of the techniques and then use them to create this piece. The next time we are together, I would really enjoy hearing all about this project. Maybe you can teach me how to do running and whip stitching. Such a fun art class you have! Love, Mimi

Hi Arlo. Such a unique form of art to create this pumpkin. The different sizes of dots used on the pumpkin add to its dimension. So interesting to read that the background was created by dipping cardboard in paint. The colors you used on the pumpkin and the background are a perfect complement to each other. Great job! Love, MImi

Hi Arlo. I'm so excited to begin seeing your artwork this year. Your depiction of the two views of one's head at the same time is right on. I researched Cubism artwork; that style creates very interesting pieces. Some similar to a jigsaw puzzle which you were able to do since you were a toddler. As always, your use of color and the elements of art needed to create a piece are very good. Great job! Love, MImi

Hi Arlo. You have become quite the artist this past school year. Your creativeness, technique and use of color and how you can capture an artist's style - like you did with Jonas Wood - and make it your own is remarkable. I am so proud of you. Hi Arlo. Papa and I love this piece because of the many cardinals we see around our yard and deck. I was studying the background effect and thought it had a decoupage look, which makes it so interesting. Thanks for explaining to me this past weekend exactly how you created it. Great job! Love, Mimi

Hi Arlo. I am learning so much on the artists and their works by the paintings you are doing in your art class. This art resembles Henri Matisse's Goldfish piece. I like the softer colors that you used in your piece. You are doing such a great job. Keep up the good work! Love, Mimi

Arlo, I love looking at all of the feathers and seeing what is different about each. Using a black-and-white background makes the feathers "jump" off the canvas. Adding the glitter is creative in making this piece, modern fall feathers. Love, Mimi
Posted 6 years ago by Mimi

Arlo, this is such a creative piece. Each feather has different elements and the placement of each perfectly fills the canvas as in Allover painting. The areas where you added glitter, certainly makes this piece pop!! A wonderful painting you did. I'm going to order a print to hang. Love, Mimi
