Dear Ella, Your painting of a sea turtle swimming is so peaceful. This is quite a contrast to your viking ship drawing. The water is beautiful, calm and slick. Is the turtle swimming with the current or against it--I think with the flow because Miss Turtle looks so peaceful, no splashing. The perspective is from above the water, maybe a drone or a hot air balloon is looking down on her. Every artwork tells a story. Maybe she is swimming to shore to lay her precious eggs in the sand. Keep drawing and dreaming. Love, Granny and Gramps

Dear Ella, Once again your art is telling a story. The black sky, glowing sunset, turbulent sea and full sail are saying saying something about this Viking ship. I notice that there are no sailors visible. Are they all hiding behind their shields as the approach an enemy, or maybe they are all lying dead in the bottom of their ship? Your work with pencils and chalk is excellent. I love the way your artwork takes us to so many different places. Love, Granny and Gramps

Dear Ella, This a very thought provoking and lovey chalk drawing. You placed us, the viewers, inside a dark tunnel looking out on a deserted highway at night with only one vehicle coming toward us. The vehicle's headlights are the only sign of life. The houses are all closed up and no people or animals are in sight. Did you create this after the Corona virus pandemic changed our lives? Your choice of colors adds a dash of hope along with the bright light coming toward the viewer. This is very special and should be shown on one the T V news programs! Love, Granny and Gramps

Dear Ella, Now, who could this adorable puppy be? Oh, I see her bone shaped name tag and it reads "Bella." You surely caught the personality and beauty of Bella from the tip of her tail to the sweet expression in her eyes. You are very skilled with your pencils and very creative with your the way you choose to present your subjects. Please keep drawing and maybe write a story or a poem about Bella.

Dear Ella, The extreme simplicity of your painting is very powerful. The sunrise is dazzling, especially in contrast to the dark, plain, and empty cross. I like the way you showed the thickness and strength of the cross. The brilliance of the sunrise is enhanced by the way you controlled the colors and the round shape with your paints. This is a beautiful and thoughtful painting. Love, Granny and Gramps

Dear Ella, Your lovely paperweight will be a lifetime treasure for you. Your use of color makes it exceptional. I can imagine that it was fun to shape the clay and then paint it. Could it be a birthday cake? You are gifted in art. Your hands and your eyes and your brain are perfect for making pretty things. Love, Granny

Dear Ella, Your "Horse with Dots on Brown Paper" (I gave it a title) is such a fun artwork. Your little horse must be daydreaming about all the things in her everyday world. I like your use of color and white. It is a pretty design and you executed it very well. I can imagine that someone would like to have a bedspread with your design--or how about a purse? Just add a handle. Sometimes we think of art as just something to look at, but really art is everywhere. Gramps and I so enjoy seeing your works. Love, Granny

What a beautiful painting! It would be an interesting pairing with Van Gogh's Starry Night painting which is all full of motion--curves and swirls. Your Winter Trees is mostly straight lines and a sense of quiet. I think he would have liked your work. Your Winter Trees reminds me of a poem written by Robert Frost. He paints pictures with words. You can look it up on the internet. I think he would also have liked your painting. The art you (or anyone) creates jumps right into an ocean of all the art ever made before you. I am happy that you are having so much fun and success. Love, Granny

Dear Ella, What a happy Valentine artwork. I love the action of hearts escaping from a box. That gives the viewer much to think about. I am guessing that you cut the box out of brown paper, pasted it on paper and drew on it. Did you cut out the hearts from a selection of papers and paste them on? Great work!

Dear Ella, Your artwork was my first look at Japanese Notan. I looked it up on the internet and was amazed. Did you cut and paste, or did you cut and then use black ink for the images outside the square? Either way, you did excellent work. You have very good control of you fingers to be able to do such a pretty piece. What a happy experience for you! Your artwork brings me joy. Love, Granny

Dear Ella, Your birdbath with bird is exquisite. The design and colors are beautiful. I love everything about it, especially the curved line from the bird's head to her tail, repeating the bowl shape of the bath. Anyone would be delighted to look at this lovely artwork every day. Do you like the feel of clay in your hands? I always did. Love Granny

Dear Ella, We love your Santa Pup-- so beautifully drawn. Did you create the details like long eyelashes and the white patch around his right eye? He looks like Santa Claus would look if he really were a dog instead of a person, and why not. You put so much personality into the people and critters you draw. Keep it up! Love, Granny and Gramps

Dear Ella, Wow-wee wowsers!! I think I am in a famous art museum looking at a spectacular painting. You are learning so much, and your natural talent is showing through. I could look at this painting all day long. I can imagine that you had fun with this project. I like the way you controlled the colors and the way you showed the expression on the lady's face. Gramps and I are so happy that you are able to have this opportunity to develop you artistic talent. Love, Granny

Dear Ella, Wow, what a beautiful picture. Your self-portrait captures your personality and physical characteristics so well: lovely green eyes, full of excitement, auburn hair reflecting the light and a happy smile--and all the things you treasure and like to do. I see the way you chose objects to portray your face; the lemon slice mouth, cherry nose, sunset eye, paintbrush hairline and pink kitty fur for your hair. What fun! We so enjoy seeing your artwork. Dear Ella, Your drawing with color wash of Notre Dame is so lovely, especially after the recent fire. Your artwork preserves the feelings of so many people who want to see the Cathedral as beautiful and full of joy. Drawing all those outlines looks challenging, and you drew it so well. The black background with stars and a cresent moon give a sense of peace. Gramps and I are so happy that you are learning so much about drawing and painting and all the beautiful colors. Dear Ella, I can imagine that you had fun creating this portrait. Every time I look at it I see something new. I love the way you used color to draw the eye of the viewer to different parts of the picture. You made the face of this person happy and bright. If I were going to hang this drawing in an art gallery, I would have a little plaque next to it that read "Crazy Happy" by Ella, 2019."

Dear Ella, I love the way you drew this pair of birds. Even though it is just an outline sketch they look soft and desirable. You put so much personality in all your creatures. Did you look at a drawing when you drew this pair of birds or did you imagine them and compose them this way? Your artwork makes us feel happy, and it is fun to share your journey into the world of art. We love you, Granny and Gramps

Dear Ella, Your flower is very beautiful. It could be a rose or a camellia. You captured the form exquisitely in your drawing. The pink and green pencil background suggests a whole garden full of this lovely flower. Maybe you would like to draw a flower from our garden then next time you come. Your art talent is a gift from God that will bring much pleasure to you and others all through your life. Gramps and I are blessed to watch your skill grow just like a beautiful flower opening up. Love, Granny and Gramps.

Dear Ella, Your pretty little fox has so much personality. The way you drew her and colored her makes we wonder what she is planning. I love all the shades of green. The two front trees are very bold with the dark accents on the branches and the trunks. The shadows let us know where the sun is. Of course, Little Miss Foxy is enjoying a sunbath, almost taking a nap. It is so fun to see your artwork. I hope it is fun for you. Do you ever feel like you are in another world and time when you draw and paint? We love you and are so proud of you and happy for you. Granny and Gramps

Dear Ella, We love looking at your drawing of the African figure. You revealed the character of this person standing straight and tall and holding a sword and a shield. Tipping the crown slightly to the right balances the raised sword and the braid of hair hanging behind her shoulder. The colors you used call to mind a sunrise on an African desert, and the expression on her face is authentic. I would expect to see something like your drawing in an African museum. We are enjoying seeing your artwork. We hope it is bringing joy to you also. Love, Granny and Gramps

Dear Ella, We love your robin and have kept it up on our computer screen all day. We noticed how well you did the shading on Mr. Robin and on the tree branch. The look in Mr. Robin's eye is very interesting. What is he thinking while having his portrait drawn? The soft sky is so lovely. We are very happy that you are having this opportunity to develop your art talents. Love, Granny and Gramps
