I found this piece to be reminiscent of the pioneering paintings of Claude Debussy, and his use of the impressionist style. Particularly as applied to natural scenes and the romanticized portrayal of pictorial landscapes. While the tree line was obviously the intended focus of this painting, it melds seamlessly with the meadow of golden grasses and the ominously gathering storm off in the distance. Making one feel both at ease and anxious, simultaneously. The way that this artist has captured the setting sun’s reflection upon the pool of water in the foreground is such that the water appears to glow from a fire within, rather than merely reflecting the red hues of the setting sun. Another example of the fascinating dichotomy of this work. By-the-by: To fully appreciate this exceptional piece of exquisite artwork, I would like to see it be displayed as intended, i.e. rotated 90-degrees in the counter-clockwise direction. Well done, Sloane! Well done!
