It's been claimed that combining rhythmic crashing waves and proximity to the natural world helps us achieve a meditative state, which can help reduce stress, and increase relaxation and happiness. Your artwork shows this, Emma. Very good.

You can clearly see what you were drawing, Emma, because it really stands out on the canvas. I like your blue flower.

This reminds me of a fabric trend from the 60s called, “Madras.” Very groovy and so is your print.

You should be proud of this piece of art; it’s gorgeous. I love the way the wire gives the grass movement. Wise words, too: there is always light, even in the darkest times.

Wow, Emma. This looks so technical and difficult to do. I’m sure that learning this masking technique will open doors to other magical avenues, but it sounds hard to do. I like Summer, too.

Nice barn! Looks like it's at the base of the Rocky Mountains. Sun going down. Any cow or chicken would love to bed down there.

TREES by Joyce Kilmer I think that I shall never see A poem as lovely as a tree. A tree whose hungry mouth is prest Against the earth’s sweet flowing breast; A tree that looks at God all day, And lifts her leafy arms to pray; A tree that may in Summer wear A nest of robins in her hair; Upon whose bosom snow has lain; Who intimately lives with rain. Poems are made by fools like me. But only God can make a tree. Cute tree, Emma, especially 4X5 in size. But you have some stiff competition going on there. Maybe next time you can throw in some robins. xo

Visualization is fun and this is a delightful example.

To tell you the truth, I didn’t see a tree or an elephant. But I did look up the inspiration for this drawing, Peter Deligdisch, (Peter Draws) and he said, “he likes to draw lines.” He said that he liked to use fountain pens and glass dip pens. Try one of those the next time, because you have the lines perfect.

Oh, Emma girl! You captured you! I love it when your school tells of the different artist that you are studying. I learned a bit about Kehinde Wiley and his art. Thank you!

I enjoyed reading about Wayne Thiebaud. Did you know that he lived to be 101 years old? He lived in Sacramento, CA. I use to live there, too. That cherry pie looks yummy. Great job, Emma.

I think that Paul Gauguin would like these Pears. “Don't copy nature too literally. Art is an abstraction. Derive it from nature as you dream in nature's presence, and think more about the act of creation than the outcome.” I know that I do. -- Maryann
