Dear Ada, This is amazing! You have really captured Modigliani to a T. As papa T suggested, do the same with a family picture! Good Job! Mema

Ada, your ability to duplicate outstanding artwork is remarkable! Perhaps the next step for you is to apply an existing style in another context, such as using this style to create an imaginative rendering of you and Arlo.

It's great that you're trying lots of different media, Ada. this reminds me of CTA trains heading into the Loop - a reminder of Chicago's great transportation system. Keep up the creativity!

Wow Ada, this is an extremely well done portrait. Great colors, very crisp color changes, and very well proportioned components. As you know, you've done the portrait in a Picasso-like style. The result is excellent!

Sweet Ada, I adore this piece! It's a fun throw back to your early Picasso-esque work. The colors and detail make it a really fun painting to look at. Can I have it please?

This unusual piece of Ada's artwork is referred to as a Blind Contour drawing. Blind Contour drawing is a drawing exercise in which an artist draws the contour of a subject without looking at the paper. Wow! Congratulations, Ada, on this piece of work and the engaging results! It will be interesting to see how additional Blind Contour drawing might evolve for you. -- Papa T

Dear Ada, I think that I missed your commentary about your latest drawing -the skelton. Your class provides you with many challenges and different and difficult subject matter. but you always rise to the challenge. You seem to really enjoy this art class and your creative teacher. Ada should send her portrait of Emma to her! Ada is a big fan and she has an intersting likeness and take on the star. I wonder if she will do my portrait? I think that Ada has talent! Mema -- Mema

Wow, this caricature certainly catches the eye, Ada. The skepticism and/or sense of disapproval registered in the face and posture of this unnamed figure comes through loud and clear. I find myself wondering whether the starting point from which this caricature was produced could be used to represent a person displaying a sense of approval and satisfaction. Maybe not, given the starting-point constraints (such as a block-shaped head and half-raised arms). The bottom line though is your imagination and creativity, which are significant! -- Papa-T

Dear Ada, Each of your projects gets better and better! I love your super hero! I would like to know more about him -is he a take off from a hero that I don't know about, or is he totally original? I want to buy some postcards. xxoo Mema

I also like the artist statements which give a glimpse into your thoughts and why you created the object the way you did. I hope you will continue creating art in the years ahead. Love, Mema -- Mema

Ada, Without the lines which you have added to your face, it is an amazing likeness. The lines add an interest to the picture. Do they also emphasize areas of your face? Mema -- Mema

I see the weight on your shoulders. And I am happy to see that your next picture doesn't have tears or a weight on your shoulders, which makes me happy. Remember, you are a very conscientious and smart girl and will do well, but try to spend half your time having fun with friends and family and laughing. xxooMema We hope to see you soon!!! -- Mema

Dear Ada, You convey a lot with a line drawing! Do you have new square glasses? They are really cool. Is the lined paper behind you because you are a student and working hard? I hope so!! We love you! Mema and Papa T -- Mema
