Your literal interpretation of art coming to life from a history book makes for a very visually inspiring piece. But what I like the best is the composition. The picture is heavier at the bottom with the big swirls and enlightened (and lighter) towards the top where your swirls come to life with the historical figures that inspire you. You said that maybe you would not have had an all blue background if you did it again, but I think the all blue background makes everything else (the white book, the bright colors) pop.
