Zoey- I am SO proud of how far you've come. This actually looks like you! No one else in the class did that! Not the Senior or the Juniors. Even though theirs are good and look like real people, they don't look enough like themselves. You did GREAT. Especially the glasses and the changes in light/shading. I hope this builds your confidence.

As usual, better than you think. Do be careful not to accidentally slip back into drawing the positive spaces instead of staying focused on the negative. Where you finish (enclose) the shapes, and when you finish them outside of the frame- that's when I know it's hard. But you got this.

Don't be afraid to go BIG. your painted brain is REALLY strong. I appreciate the pencil stuff- and it provides a great contrast, but you need to try not to be so apprehensive & doubt yourself. Try your best and don't hold back if you want to get more realistic. On the other hand, if you're gonna hold back and draw simple and with stick-figures, then LEAN INTO IT and make them deliberately over simple and child-like, that way they'll be more bold and expressive. Even if they end up silly that's okay.

Anytime you want, you're allowed to use pen, makers, colored pencils, crayon, highlighters or whatever in your sketchbook- so long as you draw it first. Just think how cool this softball would look it it was yellow.
