I expect to see this as one of your album covers some day.

Are you satisfied with this? Because I'm not. You're capable of much more. Nice blending, but you need deeper density, broader range, and greater contrast- those were what the assignment were all about after all, practicing perceiving and depicting value. PUSH YOURSELF! You've got skills but either you're having a hard time focusing, or it's not very important to you. Too bad. You could be a great artist if you cared about it enough.

In spite of the mishap with the body, your detail work on this head, plus the very concept you were going for is awesome. You have a lot of creative, expressive and otherwise artistic instincts. Keep experimenting and taking risks, don't give up just because you have setbacks trying to execute what you envisioned.

One of your struggles may be coming from not having it covered well enough with plastic each night, so the parts you finish dry out too much to be able to add on to them or make changes. Hard lesson to learn, but now you'll know for next project. Although, I also feel that you may have fallen prey to the urge to over-work something. It was too thin and too dry for you to be able to carve it the way you were. "Reductive" or deductive methods are legit, but not necessarily what we were going for on this project anyway. Sorry for your loss.

Clever metaphor- making it look like a barrel. I also appreciate that you were the one student to not just fuse the inside, but to go ahead and smooth the outside too.

Great sense of depth- you're clearly learning.

Thank you for putting so much effort into this exercise. I'm very happy with everyone's results. These drawings really show that you're carefully observing and for the most part, accurately recording those observations. How were you able to copy such a difficult image, beautifully drawing even foreshortened areas? Because you simply drew what you saw, just as you saw it- rather than worrying so much about what you were drawing. Do you feel like you managed to make the cognitive shift from Left-brain-mode to right-brain-mode?
