“Absence diminishes small loves and increases great ones, as the wind blows out the candle and fans the bonfire.” - Francois Duc de la Rochefoucauld, Maxims Jillian’s work is of the moment and YET timeless. This work is set in the abstract. In this artwork, the focus is everywhere and nowhere all at the same time using bright primary colors. This could be associated with the joyfulness and hope that comes with youth. Also, in this artwork, Jillian uses geometric shapes such as squares, which brings the mood to very organized and straightforward feeling, seeing as she doesn't use any other shapes in this artwork. The colors also bring out the mood as wistful, as Jillian sticks to the basics in this piece of art. Jillian might be trying to convey that, contrary to popular belief, time does not actually fly, that it seems as though time beats at a steady pace throughout the day. I believe that this artwork is intended to make you think about time in your own way, or how much it's a part of your life. It could be to evoke specific memories of how time has affected your life, considering the title is "Untitled”. I think this is a strong piece of art with a sense of completeness that leaves me satisfied.

Love. Love. Love. I see everyday objects standing at ease and ready for use. Jillian's use of black and white highlights the depth and texture of each object. These everyday objects appear to make a statement about how the seemingly mundane is really not mundane at all, but instead a complex array of wants and needs that are longing to be fulfilled. Jillian does an excellent job of showing all of us how to not sell ourselves short and that we all have an intrinsic value that the world needs now more than ever.
