I remember Nathaniel did not know how to make a mosaic. I said he better figure out something and that he would sit in the kitchen until he had his assignments complete. There is an open window in the kitchen that faces the yard. Nathaniel said that he would make a flower. He asked how he starts. I told him that he could use marker. He said he wanted pieces of colored paper. I told him that I make a Mosaic art too. I was using large chunks of construction paper while Nathaniel was making this masterpiece with all these little shapes here and there. He did not sketch this out. He simply added from the left side until his flower was complete. He asked if he should add a background. I said I think so. He glanced at my corn on the cobb flower and then opted to not take my advice. He was so quiet as he snipped away at paper to make all these little shapes. He made this with no pieces that overlapped. He referred to this as his purple flower. I guess he changed his mind based on the limited stack of construction paper he had to use. Nathaniel's color and creativity is evident in this artwork. He is going to frame this piece and add it to our home art gallery.
