This is a fearsome piece with an angry bright dragon and a pitiful black one. I'm also wondering about the shark fins swimming in the sky. And what about those smoky clouds? Scary. Congratulations again. You create wonderful stories in paint. Love, Grandpa

Very interesting piece. The colors and their textures are artfully combined to blend well together. There's remarkable consistency of rhythm throughout ... More yang than yin. But the most interesting thing is the transparent section with faint patterns underneath and written numbers and lines on top as though you were in the process of creation. Most intreaguing. Congratulations. Love, Grandpa

Hi Evie, I love the technique you used to bring the turtle forward with outlines while the coral & seaweed is in the background without outlines. But your technique of blocks of color everywhere is also a unifying feature that pulls the whole piece of artwork together. The pink coral and yellow sand helps balance and unify the work so the turtle isn't swimming in a sea of nothing interesting. I love the bright and separate colors. And, as always, I love the magical things that happen accidentally with water and paint. You might try sprinkling some salt on your paper when the colors are still wet. See what happens. Try using a sponge or paper towel. There are a lot of fun accidents that can happen with color. Try a toothbrush too. It's fun.

Your painting is beautiful, Evie. I wrote on your mom's Facebook page that I love it when paint does unpredictable things on the paper then you work with them to create something wonderful. That's what I see that you are playing with in this painting. It's fun when color spreads and creates sharp edges and when it blends with different colors and creates soft, flowing areas. Love, Grandpa.

Evie, this is so beautiful! I love the sunset tree, and how you made it look like the water is really splashing off the cliffs and into the pool below. I'm so impressed!
