Beautiful, Elise! You did have to do a lot of folding!

I agree with you that your self-portrait would be better without the mustache or eyebrows, but after looking at pictures of the Lorax, I can see why you did it. Good job with the shadowing on the face. This portrait highlights the grace and beauty that is yours.

I think this would have been a difficult painting, trying to get the gradual feeling of falling backward, but you did it!

This looks 3-D, Elise. It's amazing how the curving of the stripes gives this effect. Nicely done!

Elise, this looks like a lot of work! Good job with a black and white piece that uses contrast and shading to make it interesting. Can't wait to talk about this artwork with you tomorrow. ??

I also see the word, “reset” here. Resting is a great way to reset before waking! Nice!

Very interesting piece of artwork, Elise. It took awhile for me to figure out it was two separate words. ?? I see a conflict going on here...I want to rest, but I'm wide awake, or maybe just can't get comfortable. I've experienced that many times in the middle of the night. ??

I love this, Elise. It brings back good memories of our family trip to South Padre Island and my first and only Boba. I'm looking forward to having another with you sometime soon. The shading of your drink s so good... not a solid yellow, but varying intensities of color. And the straw looks so realistic because it looks as if it bends a little as the light hitting the water creates that effect in real life. Also, the yellow of the drink changes the color of the straw and you captured that. Good job!

Elise, you sure love your boba! I wonder what flavor this is? You always have such detail in your art—in this one, it’s the little ridging on the plastic cover. I’ll get you another boba soon. Love, Mom

Elise, I can see you have put a lot of thought into this piece of art. You are very innovative and creative. Your idea of recycling is a great one.

Interesting art piece, Elise. The invader looks like a pumpkin, at a food market, no less. Very clever. ??

Elise, the steam rising above your cup creates such a warm feeling, especially on these cold winter days. I want to fix myself a cup of hot chocolate. And you know the cup is in some of my favorite colors.

I'm sooooo pleased with your love of music and your interest in the ukelele! The colors you choose are beautifully bright, and music brightens the world of so many people. I had fun looking for anyone musical symbols in your at. Great job!
