Josh we spent time outside doing this. We snipped off pieces of shrubs, tree leaves, ivy, and grass. You drew and glued it all to the poster paper and wow what a wonderful piece of art. You sat at a table in the middle of the backyard and did your project. How peaceful our lives were for a few moments. These are times I will forever cherish with you. If not for you I would never have experienced it!!!!! Your art touches me

Josh I think this was great. You watched a John Lennon video singing "Imagine". Then we discussed "peace". We looked up symbols about peace and you chose which one you wanted to draw. During such an uncertain time where people choose to be hateful and there is so much anger and a sense of what will happen next. I wanted to discuss and teach you about "PEACE". How being kind to one another is vital. Yesterday you sat and drew your peace symbol while listening to "Imagine" while the world around us is in such disarray. Why people cannot just respect one another and except the differences that make us who we are I will simply never know. 2020 people!!! We don't come in one shape, color, religion, size, IQ, Economic Status, hair color/style, etc. Please let us become an example to our children. The future generation of this beautiful country and spread kindness and respect to all and stop the hate.......... Do this for the kids

Wow! We were so inspired by the book we read about butterflies assigned by Mrs. Stivala that we took a virtual butterfly tour in Canada and another in England. After, we made a butterfly using your hands. That explains why your butterfly is HUGE. This was so educational, Fun, Relaxing, Inspiring, and we just couldn't seem to stop learning about butterflies today. Josh you did amazing, are amazing and are a real trooper dealing with all these changes we are all experiencing. I know you get frustrated, overwhelmed, and doubt yourself during some school work. But hang in there and know you are doing great! I for one couldn't be more proud of you

I love watching Christmas movies throughout the year. I wish I could leave my Christmas tree out all year. I love reading my book or simply watching my English television shows next to it while the fireplace is on. Its my most favorite thing in the world. This is simply beautiful

Another detailed piece of artwork. Its black and red buffalo check. We have red and white buffalo check in our home. This pattern makes everything look so warm and cozy. This is amazing! What a great job you did. It represents everything beautiful about Autumn. Colorful leaves dancing in the wind. Reminds me of the art project we did painting leaves beautiful colors and transferring them onto white paper. Then we pasted our favorite photo.Put them in black and gold frames and hung them up proudly on the family portrait gallery in moms room.These leaves are beautiful!!!!!

Josh you have out done yourself with this one. I don't like to brag but I may be one of the biggest Autumn fans out there. Way before the pumpkin spice latte was ever invented. Never in a million years have I ever seen colors like this used for Fall decor and still be so so cozy. Fall is my favorite season because I get to do so many nice things with you like pumpkin picking, apple picking, Adams family fest, the pumpkin sail, the pumpkin show at the meadowlands, making our family traditional scarecrow to place in front of our American flag , our jack-lantern contest and my personal favorite making smores at the fire pit. Spending time with you is my favorite thing to do. I absolutely love this one!!!!!!!!! Love MOM

Wow Josh it's amazing how you recall all these stores that we go to. You go with Dad often to Ace. You and I go to AC Moore because you know how Mom likes to decorate the house both inside and outside with seasonal decor. Mom loves to make flower arrangements on the front porch and match them up with the house flag. When we lived in Kearny we visited K-mart all the time. We go to the drug store for our items when we are not feeling so great. We love the thrift store because Mom is an advocate for upcycling and recycling. Mom loves redoing thrift pieces like painting an old side table and making it look fabulous or purchasing a high end dress for really cheap and pairing it up with gorgeous jewelry.It has been a hobby and passion of mine since I was very very young. You love to look at Vhs's. The old ones that people sell on eBay for a lot of money. You look for your favorites and add them to your extensive collection. You also hunt for great books to add to your collection.Like Mom it's become your hobby also. We love to go there its like a treasure hunt. This picture is so awesome. I love how you drew it. I also love that you included the thrift store. Over our summer breaks, you and I can go to the thrift store with mom and pick up some nice new clothes and things. Thrift stores are great because you’re recycling your used and unwanted things instead of throwing it out and filling our landfills even more. I’m so glad that you enjoy the thrift store. This is so interesting Josh. I don't know which individual I want to look at first. So much movement in this piece. There is dancing, jumping, flipping, superheroes and so much much more. These flowers are beautiful.Spring is finally here Josh. So many fun things to do in the Spring. You just celebrated Prom and had such a good times with your friends. You looked so handsome with beautiful flowers on your suit jacket. Chantel's Birthday is in Spring. We celebrated that as well with a beautiful cake that Sam bought. Dad's birthday is in Spring and Mom will plan something special for him. We also went to New York for 3 days for Spring break. Only downer about Spring are your allergies. Josh, I don't think you know this but Pablo Picasso is one of my favorite artists. This painting looks like something he would have done. Now thats a puzzle piece. No ordinary Blue puzzle piece here. Colorful, happy, energetic and full of possibilities. Now this is autism awareness at its best. On Sundays when you have your special Olympics basketball games I always have you wear puzzle piece basketball socks to represent Autism. So when they see what an amazing basketball player you are they realize individuals with Autism can be great at sports and are capable of doing many things. Joshua this is absolutely beautiful. Winter is surely not my favorite season, however I do see the beauty in it though. The tranquil white snow, the birds in the the v formation in the sky and the cold bitter fresh air. This piece reminds me of all that. I remember when I was a little girl we went on a trip in forth grade in the winter to explore the outdoors. We walked in the snow through the tall trees and it was so bitter cold. I couldn't believe how beautiful and peaceful everything looked. Even though I was so cold I wanted to keep exploring because all that nature made me feel so alive. I will never forget that trip. If I didn't know any better I would think it was just a delicious chocolate donut. Which I happen to know is your favorite. Josh I love this. I think its so great the way to emphasized the leaves on the tree in the middle. As if you wanted to make it perfectly clear that your tree did indeed have leaves. This is a wonderful picture of the trees all different. Grass in different shades. Bright big yellow sun. Soon we will feel that beautiful hot sun Josh. Just the other day you were riding your bike and riding your skateboard while Dad and I Cleaned the patio. Soon we will be able to enjoy some warm sunny days just like your amazing picture. -- MOM

Finally Josh the flowers are here. You did an amazing job. You and dad have been doing lots of yard work already. Great Job, Josh. It is very difficult to draw portraits of people because of all the details but you did such a great job. Everything is so even and symmetrical, which means one half of the face looks exactly like the other half. It is not easy to do that. You also did a great job coloring this picture. How cool is this. So glad you took the time out to do this piece. Growing up with Portuguese parents and learning to be bilingual, eating different foods, was a learning experience. it is much more accepting being a different nationality nowadays. Back in the 70's it had its challenges. Mom is first generation American born. Something I am very proud of. Although I will never forget my Portuguese roots I am so thrilled to be an American Portuguese women. Dad on the other hand was born in Portugal. Im sure I can speak for him and add although Portugal is near and dear to his heart he would be no where but America. We are very lucky to be in this great country. -- Mom

So this is a self portrait. I see a strong, confident , independent person in this portrait. it's fantastic that you see your self this way. its nice if people think good thoughts of you but not nearly as important than how good you think of yourself. Always treat yourself with respect. Be kind to yourself. No matter whats going on in this life know that you were created for a reason and a purpose. I thought I knew what "love" was when Chantel was born. However, you have taught me a much broader view of "love". The greatest lessons to learn are the most challenging. Josh, this is beautiful. I remember when you were a baby. During a good snowfall I would bundle you up, place you in the wagon with a thick blanket and go for a long walk. Seemed like you and I were the only people on the planet. I would look over at you to make sure you were comfortable and you would smile. Every single time it snows that image of you and I is what I think about. One of the best memories of my life. Thats what I see when I look at this beautiful work of art. Josh I love this. November is great. Thanksgiving is in November and this year you and I prepared the turkey, made mashed potatoes, stuffing, candied yams, and French string bean casserole. We had such a nice time baking our chocolate cake and pumpkin pie. You are awesome in the kitchen. I love it when we can cook together. Its what the holidays are for buddy. Enjoying cooking all those delicious meals and better yet eating them when they are ready. I love to cook and Im beyond thrilled we can do it together and make beautiful memories. Joshua, I love this. Autumn is my favorite season. Especially the month of October. Pumpkin picking, apple picking, going to the market and eating fresh baked pie with apple cider donuts. hay rides, trick or treating, the pumpkin sail watching our pumpkins sail away throughout the lake, carving our jack-o-lanterns and making spicy pumpkin seeds. Josh, this art work reminds me of the hurricanes. This is how a hurricane looks like from space. This kind of art work is called Word-Art, that's when you use words in your paintings. And the circles surrounding the center of the Word-Art are called compositional lines because they help us focus on the word in the painting. Keep up the creativity, Josh. Great job! -- Sam

Josh I really enjoy this piece. Very contemporary, very modern. I love your choice of colors. Mostly jewel tones I see. This is very Pablo Picasso inspired. You are becoming quite the artist. I have always wanted to try to create a sculpture. Sadly, I never got the chance to try. I am so happy you have not only tried but succeeded in yet another piece of art. It is so simple but so wonderful. I love that its not perfect. it has ridges, curves and its authentic just like a person. We are flawed yet we are amazing creatures. Sometimes the more imperfect we are the more special we become to others. Never stop enjoying art. Your color wheel is excellent. I love all the different colors. my favorite is red. My 2nd favorite id blue. Isn't it amazing how beautiful all the colors are, and there are so many. I think thats maybe why I love clothes so much. I get to choose which color I feel like putting on every single day. Makes my day brighter. -- MOM

Josh, this is great. Going to Ireland is on my bucket list of places I want to visit. I think Ireland is beautiful because they are so rich in culture and the country is breathtaking. Josh, this vanilla cupcake looks delicious. I know Mrs. Fig is teaching you wonderful things in the kitchen. You have now taken on a interest in cooking. Mom LOVES to cook and I wish my kitchen was as nice as the kitchen in your school with that huge oven. I love to make stews, soups, casseroles and especially cupcakes. Im sure you know Mom gets very down in the dumps in late winter. It would be better if January had a little sun. But I have to say this winter scene is so beautiful. I love this. After Christmas I take down all my Christmas decorations except the snowmen. I leave them up until it doesn't snow anymore. One of my favorite things about the winter is how beautiful the snow makes everything look and the big friendly snowmen families make together. Just like the ones we make in front of our house. While its snowing after we shovel we walk to the water and it looks like the movie "Frozen" one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen. Im lucky I get to experience that with you! -- Laurinda

I Love this. The black birds flying throughout the dark blue sky. So many times I have looked into the sky and watched birds that look exactly like the ones in your portrait and wished I could fly like them.
