Hopefully Michelle won't have you put in therapy so long as she knows this is inspired by Jean-Michel Basquiat, a Neo-Expressionist painter in the 1980s best known for his primitive style and his collaboration with pop artist Andy Warhol.

One of the things you best caught about Choe is his use of layers & transparency. Another, as I told you in class, is the multi media style- Choe often builds his layers, like you did, by using something like marker on top of the aerosol paint, he makes things feel 3-D and 2-D simultaneously- it really messes with our eyes. Thank you for experimenting and trying something different.

Great initial drawing. I'm really discouraged however by your lack of persistence. The point of the assignment was to hoping you'd try to blend complimentary colors together some to get neutrals and that you'd blend white and black with your orange and blue in order to get some tints, tones, and shades. You've only added one color and it looks more like crayon than paint. Bummer.
