You know what I just noticed? If you were to make it horizontal, it could be a beautiful butterfly! :) They look like they could be wings!

I love it! They almost look like puzzle pieces until you look closer -- and it's cool how the dog snouts look like the dog ears on the next one. I also like the range of colors you chose. This must have been a fun art project!
