Nice painting! We had this same one in our house when we lived in Lawrence. Your Uncle John brought it back on a poster from Europe. You did an excellent job with your Van Gogh sunflowers.

Is this a poppy field to remember the end of World War I? There's a huge poppy field memorial at Liberty Memorial. Maybe you and your dad can go there sometime. It's amazing--and this is, too. I love the tone of the reds with the greens. Very nice. You're really good at this.

This reminds me of the great seal of Kansas. I really like the way you've incorporated the aqua from the feathers into the rays of the seal. And I like that the rays are divided by color; it makes them look like they are two-dimensional. You know what? As I look more at this now, the combo of the tan and the aqua almost makes this look like copper, which has a blue tint when air hits it. Very nice.

1-24-18...Tigers. Well, Slim, you seem to have a knack for illustrating animals. Like the polar bear the background you chose for the tiger contrasts his shape and coloring very well. You can really draw much better than I ever could! We have an owl in the neighborhood that is protecting her nest, and she has flown onto runners' heads when they are out early. Phil is wearing his bike helmet with a flashlight on top of it to keep his head safe!
