Ivy, this illustration keeps getting more interesting the more I look at it. I love the way you blended colors and gave each body a mysterious haze. I also love the shadows that remind me that these planets experience time and change. The shadows also make the planets appear three dimensional. Very cool, sweetie!

I think that this is a painting that teaches you about perspective and about all of the ways that you can view objects and people. It looks like you had a mirror on the floor and that you bent over the mirror and drew what you saw. That is why in the painting your hands and feet appear bigger than your torso--when in reality your torso is actually larger. I especially like your blue eyes in the picture and your freckles. I think, though, that if you made this painting again, you may make your hair larger, as your hair would fall closer to the ground and, therefore, would appear larger than in your painting. Isn't art amazing? You can change your perspective without even actually having feet larger than your torso! Verrrrry innnnttterrrestting!

Ivy, this picture is both dreamy and scientific all in one painting. I think this represents the sun and the planets in the earth's solar system. I like the way that you portray each planet with its own color scheme and its own variation of colors (some look as though they have subtle stripes). I like the earth's blue color the best, though I also like Saturn's rings, too. It is hard to tell because on my computer screen they are very light, but I think that the arrows have letters on them (perhaps the names of the planets?) These kinds of paintings are really special because they are not only beautiful, but they teach you about something about our earth and its surroundings, too. I like it!

Ivy, you have done it again. What an interesting painting--the colors are all so vibrant. This tiger looks rather unhappy and I think it might be the intense look in his eyes and what appears to be the position of his head--looking at the audience with his chin low and his eyes set on you--he looks ready to pounce (scary). I think this must be a rather special tiger, though, as it appears as though his cage is wallpapered with a beautiful pink and blue polka-dotted pattern. Perhaps he is a sultan's tiger and that he lives with the sultan in luxury as his pet? I know that tigers in the zoo, in the circus, and in the wild do not have such beautiful surroundings--so he must be someone's favorite pet. If so, that someone should feed him soon, as he is looking a little cranky. Great job.

Ivy: You have done it again. This is a beautiful piece of art with patterns in different shapes (stripes and basket weave) and colorful objects (apples of different colors and tablecloth with yellow, red, and pink). I especially like the way that you captured the shadows--all correctly and in unison showing to the left of the object (I assume the light source was to the right of the objects--is that correct?) Thank you for sharing this with us.

Ivy: My friend Patty and I are up at the lake cabin and when Patty saw this she said, "wow, that is amazing--it is so colorful!" I completely agree. This work of art shows your talent to delight your audience with curved shapes, unusual shapes, shapes of many sizes and a wonderful color palate. Thank you for sharing this beautiful painting with us.
