Wow Jonathan!! This is phenomenal - such unusual use of color and patterns. This should be framed and hung in an art gallery.

Jonathan, As usual your work impresses me. The colors mesh very well together and it makes me think...what could it be? Am I looking into a petrie dish? Is it a mirage....hmmm? Great job...I'm so proud of you. Love U, Mommy

Wow, quite the funky lady in purple. Have you been influenced by Rachel in your choice of colors for this piece? I'd like to see this art so I can study the detail on the outfit. Just wondering why she is faceless? Much Love of course, Grandma

Hi JD, I was very impressed with your art, especially this last one. I think you are going to be an artist like your mommy. When you mom was a little girl she was a very good artist too. Love ya, abuela and abuelo

So once again, you have excelled. I especially liked that you wrote that you are honest and caring and there is nothing more important that you could have chosen to describe yourself. Love Grandma

Bring me the head of Alfredo Garcia! Jonathan's artwork is now far beyond the unstructured primitivism and broad splashes of palette seen in his earlier work. The violence of the era we live in and images of insurgent beheadings from Iraq are clearly evident here - juxtaposed with the banality of mass-marketing and the mindless snacking of post-modern American materialis : oreo cookies, almonds and starlight mints. This critic now poses a question: Does Jonathan leave all of his works untitled to challenge the viewer to experience through his own eyes, untainted by the prejudices of the artist, or to taunt the viewer with the utter meaningless of all existence?

Heeeey Duuuude, I am loving this piece. I think you did a great job caputiring the true essence of the artist. He looks serene yet curious. You are the best! Love You, Mommy

This is by far your most creative piece. Were you influenced by Chagall or Picasso? I personally like the symmetry and how my eye is drawn right into the center of the flowers. Keep on painting.

Jonathan has now returned to his roots. Those hours at Butterfly World, that interest, that obsession, now reemerges in this bold, symmetrical statement. Before he achieved fame, before he had a private gallery, his early, unknown works - which included cloth, pencil and chalk - often centered on butterflies. His art has now matured to the point where he can convey his creativity in the ultimate medium - oil.

"This is the second piece from JD's famous "Green Period." Note the primitivist influences, the bold use of color, and the brash, broad strokes. This is not art for the meek or squeamish; rather, it is aggressive art, challenging modern preconceptions and forcing a fresh contemplation of old and new, savage and civilized." The New Parisian Art Review
