Trip, WOW. Love the colors and balance of your design. I see it as a very sophisticated interpretation of the flow of darkness, actual and representative.

Ok... this latest artwork I find to be very creative, fresh, and a good interpretation of the assignment. The colors, the sky & ,black birds were an integral part of the artists paintings in France. Good job ! Thanks, John

Hi Trip, What a great story your art tells! That is a very intriguing looking rabbit who probably has had quite an adventuresome life. Obviously he's a king of rabbits but it looks like he had to fight for that honor.

Trip, what a great picture! It reminds me of Alaskan American works because those artists use images of Ravens in many paintings and carvings. Wonderful!

For Trip, this is quite a sophisticated image/design and falls within what I would say is not only child-like but abstract thinking considering what the flag actually looks like... but the design elements especially. Nice... I'll probably order a mug with this artwork. Uncle JOHN

OK... this is an unexpected and quite s nice piece of art created by Trip. The playfulness of the form, the colors used, as well as the complete composition within the framework of the background, reflects his creativity, following instructions given by the teacher, and the encouragement to experimenter. The artwork is fresh and "child-like" and what I would expect from him at this age. P.S. I also like the way he has separated each of the flavors/colors of the ice cream (with the black) to suggest 3-D on the stacking. Good job ! Uncle JOHN

The expression on his face looks like the raccoon that used to live at the farm. When I caught him eating cat food outside he looked like, "who, me?" Very creative art work!
-- Nana
- on June 7, 2017
I believe this particular artwork of Hunter's (Trip) is more creative and well-crafted than a couple of the other more recent works. His attention to detail with the raccoon's head & tail and the background color transition suggesting shadow makes the figure stand out and become more 3-D. I think he must have a teacher who is open to experimentation and allows students to explore their ideas through their art.

I have been following Trip's artwork for a couple of years. Many of his creations are pure "childlike" while others seem to have more adult guidance and less age appropriate creative design and color useage. As a former educator (art) there are many "signs" that reflect direct teacher interaction. I have purchased 3 mugs, a T-shirt, and this particular cardinal artwork interests me... given more input from the school staff. John Guenther

The use of overall background color surrounding the skulls, and the subtle changes of color that were chosen, work well together and reflects a certain sophistication and creativity for this child at this age level and education. The abstraction of the skull from one portion of the composition to the next, helps to lead the eye across the picture format (geometric rectangles) and forms a pleasing triangle to draw the eye. The resulting artwork becomes rather contemporary.

I especially like the 3-D aspect of the stick arms & the angle of the carrot nose... which implies that the nose is sticking out of the snow. "Trip's" thinking is ahead of his age group; he is visualizing 3-D imagery yet still lacks the complete understanding an skills to draw what his mind is "seeing". I am very encouraged by his artistic development & hope his teachers will continue to encourage creative thinking and freedom to express himself unimcombured. John Guenther

I realize that the artwork being created by children of Trip's age (and his classmates), is under the direction and with the general instructions from teachers. I sense that his use of a variety of art materials seems unrestricted and uninhibited... thus the freshness of his creativity comes through the most. Lesson guidance is most generally needed, helpful, and encouraging (for each student), but at the same time I wonder about what point in the lesson that the teacher backs off and allows the student (s) to become fully engaged with art materials and thus creative thinking (on his/her own) and takes over and is not the result of teachers influence. From what I have seen (thus far), of Trip's artworks, I feel his most creative artworks are the ones that have the least adult supervision and his freedom is thus reflected in the abstract nature of the finished piece. I also notice that Trip likes color... but maybe not the colors he chooses ? For example. the two latest "port
