My Dearest Griffin,
I am caught by this painting of yours. Were you playing with the with the identity of architecture? This piece strikes me with the following questions: What is real in architecture? What do we value most; the structure or the reflection of it?

We are all grappling with place and what it means to us. For you it is clearly solid and bright though it seams to float in you thoughts. It bring up these questions for me, and I feel engaged with it, and you, in a meaningful way.

Your sense of color in this piece is clearly masterfull while holding a sense of whimsy in the smiling faces of your buildings, reminds me of Bill Peet.

When I look at your work, the proportionally of your shading brings so much joy to me. To simplify my interpretation, you blend darkness and joy into one.

Always looking forward to you growing as and artist and forever committed to you pursuit of expression.

Yours truely,
Your biggest fan Tobias

Griffin, this reminds me of our trip to Boston this winter, and of our trip to New York City in 2014. I like how the tenderness of the wet pavement at sunset reflects the cold city skyline. Yin and Yang. Amazing how much your artwork has progressed this year. Love, Mom

Griffin, You are an extremely empathetic little individual, who's karmic contract with the universe has always pointed out the shadow side of the human experience, and championed the underdog. I love how you've depicted yourself here in black ink - you are not afraid to express your darker emotions, and your sensitivity to human vulnerabilities. I dare say you are on the bodhisattva's path; a true peaceful warrior. Love, Mom

This reminds me of the day I saw a double rainbow stretch form one side of the ocean to the other. You artwork always reminds me to keep the happy moments in the forefront of my mind and in the center of my heart. Keep up the great work. Love, Mom
